Sniffles

Little Rosy Cheeks has her first cold! Gary has been quite sick, so it's no wonder. Besides a snorkely nose, she hasn't seemed too uncomfortable though. Thank goodness! This picture was taken at my good friend Syrinity's bridal shower.

Pea in a pod

A very tired baby just wasn't wanting to fall asleep, so I wore her in the sling while I cleaned the kitchen. Once she dozed off, I carefully took off the sling to ease my shoulder pain, and let Madelyn just sleep away inside of it in the crib. I just love the way the sun is shining on her in this photo.

Happy Baby!

Madelyn is smiling all the time now! She is truly a very happy baby, only fussy when it's time to eat or go to sleep. I think she is even starting to laugh--or at least make little happy noises.

Madelyn's first 'do

I accidentally discovered that with a little "product" Madelyn's hair can be styled! No, I did NOT put hair gel on my baby. :-) Madelyn had just a tiny bit of cradle cap, so I decided to try a method I read about to get rid of it, which involves rubbing mineral oil on her scalp before her bath. Well, even after thorough washing, her hair maintained a perfectly stylable texture. Her mohawk is so cute! (And yes, the cradle cap is all better too)

Madelyn just loves to eat her hands. It creates a bit of a drooly mess, but she seems to enjoy it--even when she gets a little carried away and gags herself!

Sunday Walk

Today we explored the Fern Hill Wetlands in Forest Grove. It was a bit chilly and windy, but still a lovely walk. We were devastated to learn that the Ice Cream Shoppe was closed so we couldn't have our treat afterward! But don't worry, Plaid Pantry saved the day. :-)

A Wonderful Party!

Grandma Bonnie threw a lovely little baby shower while Tammie and Kendra were here. Madelyn got dressed in a cute new pink dress and enjoyed the festivities!

Thank you Bonnie and everyone who came to give loves to Madelyn!

A lucky girl to have TWO sweet grandmas!

Bonnie's good friend Kathleen gave Madelyn "Build-a-Bear" HUSKIES! How perfect!

Finding her Voice!

Possibly my favorite experience as a mom so far is witnessing Madelyn discover her voice. A couple of weeks ago she started really talkin'! She entertains us endlessly with her mm-hmm-hmm's and er-er-er's. It is absolutely charming. In a few years the day may come when her incessant speaking gets on my nerves, and I hope I can remember how much joy her voice brings me now!

Happy Birthday Grandma and Granpda!

Bonnie and Dale came over to celebrate their birthdays with dinner and an exciting game of 'Phase 10.' Madelyn played on her Gramma's team. She is in a wheelchair due to recent foot surgery!

10 week stats

This adorable munchkin went to the pediatrician earlier this week. She was miserable that night after getting vaccines. It broke my heart to hear her wimper, asking me why I would let them do that to her! But she is now back to her healthy, happy self.
We learned that at 12 lbs, 3 oz and 24" long, Madelyn is tall and thin! Among babies her age, she is in the 75th percentile for weight, but among babies her height, she is in the 15th percentile for weight!
We are so pleased to have a sweet, growing girl who eats and sleeps so well (usually 5 to 9 hours between feedings at night!).

Mmmm...hands...

Madelyn likes to eat her hands.

But she's just starting to discover that they may be good for more than a tasty treat! With a little help, she can grab these toys and put THEM in her mouth instead!

Evans' visit

Our good friends Sarah and Eddie came over with their baby Demitrius. He's just 12 days younger than Madelyn. (Sarah and I got to be pregnant buddies!)
