Aquatic Center

For a reward she earned, Madelyn chose a trip to the aquatic center. We decided to check out the Clackamas park, which we've never been to, and invited my good friend Barb and her daughter Zoe.

Two adorable girls ready to swim in the wave pool! Zoe is about 3 years older than Madelyn and a very good swimmer. Madelyn has been in swimming lessons for 2 sessions now and has made tremendous improvement in her comfort level in water.

She went down the little seal slide dozens of times with no qualms about getting water in her face. She even floated and kicked around the kiddie area with her face completely submerged and wanted me to count how long she can stay under.

We had a really fun time!

Braids and Curls

The first night that Madelyn and I were home alone (Gary out of town), I did french braids all over her head after her bath. We accidentally stayed up past bedtime completing this project.

They were only intended to create curls, but she actually wanted to wear the braids to school one day.

So the next morning we took out the braids to enjoy the effects.

We still love Madelyn's hot pink feather in her hair, which she got at Saturday Market a few weeks ago!

Bye, Daddy

Daddy accepted a brand new job, and they flew him to Orange County for a whole week of training.  Gary does not travel often, so it was strange seeing him off and being without Daddy for 6 days!

Jog-a-thon

The children had so much fun at their Jog-a-thon, and as far as fundraisers go, it's a little more clever than selling candy or the like.

For every lap around their track, the kids got a hole punched in their name tag. Madelyn ran so fast and did 35 laps!

I joined her for just one. :) The medal she received at the end is quite a treasure for Madelyn.

Mothers' Luncheon

Picnic with Madelyn at her school honoring the moms.

With a cute little friend, Linnea.

One of the teachers, Miss Shireen, with Madelyn, Olivia, and Linnea.

I really love the colorful "decoupage" vase that Madelyn made for me!

To Market with Grandma

On Mother's Day Eve, Madelyn and I spent an utterly delightful morning downtown at Portland Saturday Market with Grandma and Uncle John.

I really wanted to crop out my pregnant thunder-thighs, but it just wasn't working. So there's an honest picture for ya.

Quesadillas and a six-dollar bowl of fresh fruit!

The new(-ish) fountain there was a hit for Madelyn. She played there while I got peppermint ice cream cones for her and Grandma.

Which they thoroughly enjoyed on this beautiful sunny day!
